Caliber 5.12.0 - Realtime PRs, New Workout Summary Screen, Various Bug Fixes

Announcement 📣

Here's what's new in version 5.12.0 👇

Realtime PRs

Previously we had run all achievement calculations at the point where a workout was marked complete. However, it never felt like this really aligned to the emotional feeling you have when you’ve hit a PR - where you’re like “let’s go!!!”, and want to feel this more immediately, not when you’re leaving the gym at the end of a workout.

So, with this update, we’ve shifted to calculating PRs right after you complete an exercise. Whenever you complete an exercise where you’ve hit a PR, you’ll now see a screen that calls this out immediately. The team have all been testing this over the past few weeks, and we’ve all come to love the surprise moment when this happens, so hopefully you will too.

Of course, since we want to give everyone as much control as possible, if you don’t like being congratulated on hitting PRs after an exercise, this is adjustable within Menu > Workouts.

With this change, you’ll also now see your exercise history update immediately upon completing exercises as well (previously this also happened at the end of a workout).

New Workout Summary Screen

Following on from the above, we’ve updated the Workout Summary screen to match this new design, where you’ll now see more distinctive cards summarizing your workouts, along with cards for each of the PRs you’ve hit once you complete the workout, all of which are directly sharable as well.

Bug Fixes / Improvements

In addition, this release includes a number of bug fixes and QoL improvements (including a few from the previous smaller release, which I didn’t post about):

  • Added sharing directly to the Track Screen. This is something of an easter egg (intentionally, so as not to clutter the UI), but you’ll see if you take a screenshot
  • Made the Exercise Notes much larger on iOS (as suggested here). Ran into some issues with this on the Android side, but made them larger there as well
  • Refactored referral screens for Dark Mode, and added this for Plus users as well
  • Fixed issue with “Treadmill Running” not syncing from Health Connect for Android users
  • Fixed some cases where we were seeing syncing issues with Strava
  • Fixed scaling issue on Plate Inventory screen on Android
  • Fixed issue with haptic on Workout Rating slider on Android
  • Fixed issue with keyboard not reopening on Workout Notes screen on Android

Coming up next, we are just about to release a major update for Strength Score, which I suspect should significantly decrease volatility, while also improving accuracy. We are aiming to have this live for the next Strength Score update this coming Sunday, and I’ll be making a separate post on this beforehand as well, covering the various changes in more detail.

On the Mobile side, we’re now getting into a significant revamp of the Progress section of the app. This update will allow for way more customization, allowing you to chart your progress across different dimensions, and for all activity types (Cardio, Nutrition, Steps, etc), before then moving into work on our guided progression feature after that.

Hope that you all enjoy the more immediate PR dopamine hit, and as always please just us know if you have any questions or feedback on the latest update!
